The process

Through detailed search work, networking and referrals, we work with lawyers around the world who are looking to secure their next move. We pride ourselves on our high referral rate and are confident this is due to both clients and candidates responding positively to our thorough, unique and personalised service.

Our process in finding the best solution for your firm is very targeted, and you will only hear from us when we have someone who we feel would meet your requirements or as otherwise agreed. BerConn Global intentionally only work with a limited number of lawyers whom we know we are able to assist.

Once lawyers confirm they would like us to represent them, we:

obtain an original resume and conduct a detailed and thorough interview.
have an open and honest dialogue making sure we know all relevant details about who they are, and, most importantly, what they are looking for in their next position.
ask for copies of academic transcript, practising certificate and VISA documentation (where applicable).
provide detailed advice on resume layout. Together with the candidates we tailor their resumes to ensure that it meets the hiring firms’ and location requirements, that it is accurate and up to date and highlights the candidates’ relevant experience and commitment to a career move. Please note, the resume content will not change unless the candidates make those changes themselves.
can begin by sending you an “anonymous profile” or submit the resume, with the candidate’s express permission. We will be guided by your firm policy and requirements.
ask for the ability to provide advice if we feel it would benefit either party.
can assist in salary negotiations and undertake verbal references if required and appropriate.

Search assignments

BerConn Global recommend retained search assignments for unique or hard-to-fill positions and key senior level appointments. Search assignments offer a bespoke targeted service to source the most suitable lawyer for the role.

We work with you to agree upon a search method and time line to meet the current requirement. Our retained search agreement will guarantee our commitment to identifying, approaching and engaging an agreed group of lawyers, who may or may not be actively seeking a new position.

Transparent communication is essential throughout the entire process. We appreciate that some appointments are highly confidential, and we handle each retained search assignment with integrity. With every search assignment, our agreement sets out an honest assessment of capabilities from the outset.
